Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Pedro Neto ‘tempted’ by move, Real Madrid ‘offer’ Gunners Marco Asensio – Fulham

Hello Arsenal fans

Arsenal do not expect to make any further signings before next week’s transfer deadline despite Nicolas Pepe being loaned to Nice.

Mikel Arteta was hoping to buy another winger to replace the club’s record £72m Pepe and compete with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

But an investigation into Wolves’ Portuguese international Pedro Neto has been dismissed.

And the club aren’t going to pay silly money having already splashed out £120m to sign Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos this summer.

Arteta said: “Part of the plan we’ve been preparing for two months was that Pepe could leave and now it’s a reality.

“We did our business in a different way this year.

“We bought players at the start of the window before taking others out and it was a bit more risky.

“Now we have let one player go and maybe we can sign another.

“But it’s not a guarantee and we have to wait and see if it will be possible.

“Nico was here for three years and he had some really good times and some where he didn’t really contribute.

“He was not responsible for the price the club paid for him, but he has to play football again and it was the best decision for everyone to allow him to leave.”
