Two burglars were caught on camera raiding a Hamilton jewelry store earlier this month.

This story has been edited to clarify that the burglars broke a window and did not force their way into the store.

A police spokesman said the two men on motorbikes drove to the ER Aubrey jewelery store on Queen Street around 3am on April 4.

The passenger, wearing a red adidas jacket with camouflage sleeves and a silver helmet, smashed the front window of the premises and removed a quantity of items that were on display.

The pilot wore a black jacket and a black full face helmet, with a dark tinted visor.

The suspects then fled north on Queen Street.

The incident was captured on store security cameras.

Anyone with information has been asked to call 211, the Criminal Investigations Unit at 247-1744, Crime Stoppers at 800-84777, or share details with a police officer.

Business owners, particularly in Hamilton, have also been warned to secure all access points to their premises.

They were advised to use roller shutters and set alarms, and to check that CCTV was working effectively.

The spokesperson advised having interior and exterior lighting, especially around entry points.

Store owners should avoid leaving cash on site or displaying valuables.
